Welcome to Congregation Beth Ohr!
I am Phil Rabinowitz, President of Congregation Beth Ohr in Old Bridge. My wife Harriet and I have been members at the synagogue for 35 years. Our two sons graduated from our Hebrew School and experienced their Bar Mitzvot and Aufrufs in our beautiful sanctuary.
Our mission is to preserve Jewish identity in the community, further Jewish education, provide religious, cultural, and social opportunities to our members, while reaching out to the greater community of Central New Jersey with interfaith programs and activities. Our goal is to maintain a Jewish continuity through the generations.
Beth Ohr is a Conservative egalitarian friendly Synagogue established in 1956, and our congregants consider each other Family. Our services and Torah readings are led by our lay members, which was very appealing to me when I joined. Each year we hire a Cantor to lead our High Holiday Services, and the upcoming High Holidays will be very special as we welcome our first female Cantor, Zahava Fried, from Buffalo, New York. Her wonderful soprano voice and bubbly personality will provide inspirational spirituality to our members and guests.
Our Rabbi, Joel Mishkin, is beginning his 10th year as our Rabbinical leader. Rabbi Joel is a great asset for our Congregation, with his terrific speeches, interesting educational classes, calming personality, and strong leadership within the local Rabbinate.
Come join us for Services, an educational class, or Social event so you can experience our ”haimish” congregation.
I look forward to my Presidency since I love to volunteer my time for our congregation. Please contact me at 732-501-4799 or by email at philrab49@optonline.net.
